    Hi
    I have a zanussi WDJ1257W (914601406/00) coming up E40.
I have tried a new lock and checked the main pcb for obvious faults.
Is there something else (presure switch, display pcb) thet can cause an
E40 as i had a similar machine where changing the lock and main pcb didn’t work.

    Cheers

Re: zanussi WDJ1257W E40 not door lock

Fault codes E40/41/42/43 relate to interlock related faults.

Faulty interlock; wiring from main PCB to interlock faulty (possibly oxidised edge connections – clean, tighten plugs and refit) or door control triac on PCB = new PCB. No signal from tacho, water detected in the drum or the water is at 40 degrees all cause E40 codes says TDS Distriparts DVD ie the Horse’s mouth!
I have had several faults caused by the edge connector on the user interface PCB (push button facia PCB). The plug is very flimsy and poor or oxidised contacts here can throw up all sorts of control issues. You’ll need to remove the facia, unplug and remove the board from its holder. Lightly clean the edge connections and gently nip the plug together with pliers to tighten it and reassemble. Definitely worth doing!! 😉

    Hope that helps,

    Steve.

    Cheers Steve for you advice

I will have a good look over it.

It’s a bit embarasing, when you get a hotpoint wma not locking due to the neutral missing you know 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} the pcb’s blown.

now if this lock doesn’t fix the E40 the odds are a bit less, i have a 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} success rate so far fitting the pcb, will have to carry a few “workers” on the van.

    Anyone else having more success?

    Thanks
    Graeme
