Zanussi WDS 1183 W Door handle replacement

Hi

Can anyone tell me how to replace the door handle. I presume I need to remove the outer door trim, does this come off easily or is it likely to break.
With it removed will I be able to remove the door handle?

Assuming that you’ve got the door open, remove the door from the machine. Most have a couple of screws holding the outer panel to the inner – remove them and prise the outer panel off. Two screws then retain the handle/catch assembly and it’s all pretty obvious from there. Make sure you get the sprng back on the right way round…….

Ah – much more fun. If you are sure that the door handle is actually broken, rip off the remains. This should just about allow access to the door hook, which you can prise back with a thin screwdriver. Theoretically, you can get it from the outside edge of the door, but you will scratch the paint. If it really won’t release, you may have to get it from the inside. Power off if you have go down that route.

A small piece had broken off the handle behind the latch so in the end I had to remove the handle piece by piece using a dremel. Once enough had been removed I was able to get a screwdriver at the latch and open the door. I`ve now removed the trim panel on front so that I can get at the latch screws.

I`ve ordered the part online and in the meaintime we can use the machine by opening it with the screwdriver. Thanks for the advice, considerably cheaper than getting someone to fix it

How did you manage to get the door to open? I have the exact same problem, the door opening handle broke off. The door is closed and I cannot see what to lever to get the door to open. There are just two broken sections of plastic, and a spring between them.

Any help appreciated.
