Zanussi WDT1085 timer cam

I removed the timer control knob from this machine when doing a bearing replacement (I now realise that this is not necessary). Now the timer cam (the big red plastic item) does not rotate when the timer shaft rotates. How is the cam fixed to the shaft ? The white plastic item 1247821018 can be tightened onto the metal timer shaft but I cant do this without moving the shaft – what’s the secret ?
