Went to look at this ZanussiWJS1665W yesterday ..Complaint of washer/dryer leaking 😯 Woman wants it repairing ..Checked motor to make sure it was not frazzled and was fine when tested with meggar.. Board looks ok ,circulation pump is fine etc …Heater tested with meggar 9.2m so gonna replace .Stats and NTCs were all ok ..Surprised this has not blown the board .Bearings are all sound apart from the hole lol.Told woman i can not gaurantee this but will have ago.

Is that “quick steel plastic repair “any good for such as this or does anyone recommend anything better .Woman does not want me to replace rear tub and knows that this is not the best option but willing to go ahead .I don’t mind a little challenge lol.
Just like to say that the dryer condenser was absolutely blocked ,cannot understand why people let things like this happen.

P.s sorry about size of pics 😆

You would have to like a challenge to take that one on. 😆
Would be interested to see it after the repair. 😉

Looking to the left of the hole it looks like there is further heat damage on the drum.

My guess is that the heater has been on with no water in the drum.

Unless you isolate the reason for this I wouldn’t bother fixing the hole. 😥

It might be better to wait until tomorrow when one or two of the Zanussi experts have had a look. 😉

Way to risky. Just imagine if your putty or what ever comes out. Big time flood.
I bet she would hold responsible then.

Jim.Yep would agree with heater coming on as there was quite a bit of blockage in the system , it’s only a little hole in the tub 😀

Only joking about the hole been little and yes i seen the bit near to the left as well …

Gonna come clean fellas ,i already have a rear tub comin from the recycling centre near me …got to know one of the lads there and got this sorted ..I am not that stupid to fix a hole like this when heater damaged it ..Sorry for my weird sense of humour ( thought of super glue ,that ones for the guys who know me 😉 )

Just thought i’d put this up to show what damage can happen when heater comes on..I put it in wrong place but did not know how to put it in the ” a picture says a thousand words ” thread once i had posted it here 😳

Ps if anyone can put it in the appropriate thread it would be appreciated 😀

Not easy, no. Is that the heater element visible through the hole? If so, does the element extend to where the thermistor is? If it does, then that grommet has been able to survive there. Maybe you could get a similar grommet and stat off the scrapper, cut a hole of the right size with a hole cutter, with element out of the way and make sure you get a nice fit. Have to make sure the other melted areas haven’t thinned the plastic or distorted the drum.
Alternatively, someone in a previous thread said he gets good results with a portasol gas powered soldering iron. You could have a go with that. I’m intending to get one for myself.
I know you’ve already arranged another solution but there might come a time when you’ll really want to fix a drum this way.
BTW, don’t forget to figure out why it happened before you fit the new tub. You don’t want to find out after that you also need a new board.

Pressure Switch (anti-boil) failure? Crudded up air hose maybe?

These Lux heaters don’t have integral microtemps fitted so be sure to advise your customer to install a smoke detector above the washing machine, just to be on the safe side.

As for the hole? Err?….oh just stick a cork in it!:innocent:
