My zanussi is driving me mad. The wash cycle is completely fine. Couldn’t ask for more. Clothes are spun well to almost dry. Then I put it on to dry, and I end up with hot wet clothes. I have put the drain into my sink to check and a large amount of water is coming out, but once the cycle has been on, If I put my hand into the dryer, there is a pool of water at the bottom of the drum and my clothes are all soaked. Had a washing machine repair man have a look, but he didn’t do dryers.

    Help

Your washer dryer is suffering from a blocked condenser unit I should imagine. Also you need to check the drain filter regularly as they get blocked and restrict the drain outlet flow.

The machine is complex in nature and taking off panels and lids is not a recommended DIY exercise. Therefore I strongly advise contacting a local independent engineer (although not the last one apparently 🙄 ).

We may have one listed via this link: Repairs@ to get it sorted. 😀

    thanks

I do regularly check the drain filter and it seems to be clear, although it has been clear for months now, which concerns me too.

is there any way I can check the condenser unit?

    what does it look like?

    Thanks

No, not without moving panels 🙁 (See my previous comment)

Could you give me a ballpark figure on the cost to get an engineer to unblock it?

Not a lot considering the value of the machine and its likely lifespan….But do please enquire locally as labour rates vary so very much. (Hit the link I gave for more info)

Hi.. I have exactly the same model and symptoms. What did the engineer do, and what did it end up costing ?

He hasn’t come back to let us know. He’s got an email on his Profile, drop him a line and let us know perhaps?

Re: zanussi wjd1257w filling with water on drying cycle

the engineer tested lots of things and told us it was one of the motherboards (the side one).He gave us a figure of £130 for the board, plus labour. But my wash cycle was still working, so I spent £20 on adtrader and bought a tumble dryer which works way better anyway. I can get a wash done in the washer and it will dry in 45 mins in the tumble dryer.

Now I just have to find somewhere to put the ruddy thing

Re: zanussi wjd1257w filling with water on drying cycle

Is the correct answer! Far more efficient. IME, people only ever buy one washer dryer due to the inefficiency of the dryer set-up.

£130 odd is about the right price for the board BTW, so he wasn’t winding you up.
