I have a Zanussi WJD1257W which no longer dries properly. Prod No: 914601406/00

It seems to be the NTC located in the condenser hose which is the problem. Removing the part, I checked resistance at room temperature, and got a reading of 0 on all resistance level settings. I have had 2 replacement parts sent, and am seeing no resistance across either of those, so was hoping someone can confirm that I’m not going completely bonkers in expecting to see resistance in the 6-10K ohm region; and also that checking across the 2 connections on the part is the correct way to test?

I’ve also noticed from another post here that the wiring to this particular component can be an issue, but can’t see easily where the other end of the wires are to check for breaks, nor do I know what readings should be available at the connection to the ntc, so am unsure how to check for a problem there. Could someone advise on that too please?

Intersetingly, the original part does not record an error message, though the drying time is massively short, and no heat is present. When I fitted one of the new parts to try, I got the same symptoms, but also an E72 error recorded. No idea why one might record an error, and the other not.

Advise would be appreciated please. Thanks in advance.

NTC’s rarely fail. More likely the connections to it often break. Symptoms for broken NTC connection is that the dryer aborts after a few minutes. I suspect your fault may lie elsewhere?

Thanks for the suggestion Martin, and sorry for the delayed response.

I had actually been looking for reasurance that I wasn’t completely losing the plot as I figured the chances of 2 duff components being sent out one after the other was pretty remote. Similarly, I thought the chances of my multimeter happening to die at the same time as my washer/dryer was also pretty slim.

Earlier today, I recieved the NTC from the manufacturer rather than the spares firm I had been using. Checking resistance, I saw 6k ohms (pretty much as I had hoped) fitted the part and all works again. I had started to question my own sanity, hence the nature of the original post, so am really glad it’s working as it confirms the NTCs were at fault rather than my sanity:)
