    My zanussi wjd1257w washer/dryer won’t drain.

It’s worked fine for 5 years, so it’s not the way it’s been installed. As soon as the cycle reaches the first drain it just beeps E20 (problem with filter / drainage) and I have to drain it by removing the filter and letting it flow out of the front. It will only complete the cycle if I do this each time it needs to drain. However, it doesnt actually clean the clothes – they come out stinking of manky water! 🙁

The filter is clean, the pipe from the back is not blocked and neither is the the pipe it flows into. Is it likely to be the pump? What else could it be? I don’t want to spend money on a pump to find out that it isn’t that at all!

    Please help!

    Thanks for your reply.

A friend took out the drainage pump today and tested it with an altimeter and he says that it works. Is it possible that instead of the pump completely dying, that it still technically works but is so worn out that it doesnt work effectively enough to drain the water?

Sorry if that sounds like a stupid question!

Yes that is perfectly possible, does the impellor of the motor turn ok or does it feel a little stiff? There is not much power in these motors and they jam easily.hth DJ
