Our machine has gradually developed a louder and louder noise whilst spinning. It also has staining to the door seal and is leaving black marks on white washing. Does this sound terminal or is it worth getting it looked at? The machine is around 5 years old.

Will probably need new bearings. Try moving the inner drum and see if there is any “play”, e.g. it moves up/down or left/right.

Bearings are relatively cheap but fitting them is a big job, and will require removing and splitting the drum, as well as a heavy hammer and drift to remove the old bearings. Will probably cost around the £100 mark to get an engineer to do it for you, because of the amount of work involved. Definitely don’t use the machine any more until bearings are replaced to prevent further damage.

    Thanks for reply.

Think machine could actually be up to 8/9 years old. is repair viable?

Would we also need to replace the door seal and how much would this add to the repair bill?

    Thanks
