the machine started to get noisy(vibrating) when spin drying and now has stopped spinning all together, could it be something as simple as carbon brushes need replacing on the motor? or worse.

Could someone tell me how to get them off, as the two screws/lugs/rivets don’t seem to be movable.

    many thanks

    Noises on spin:
Drive belt disintegrating will give those symptoms.
Drum bearing failure will cause the pulley to go out of line and the belt run off.

Brushes wearing out would make a crackling, roaring noise, but is unlikely to cause vibration. They are held by two screws on each holder – if they are not shifting, you will have to split the casing and remove the drive motor for better access.

    Power off as you investigate,

Thanks for your response, after taking the whole bloody thing apart it turned out to be the waste filter blocked with the contents of my young sons pockets,
could of saved myself a lot of time, but at least now I am a litle bit clearer on the general workings of the machine.
    😳
