err…and doesn’t actually work. Stick the dryer on, and the condenser water just backs up the system until you loosen the filter screw to drain it from the front.

Now, I’ve checked the pump, filter, (sump?) hose, the lot…all clear. The pump impeller seems loose, and comes away from the motor easily – I guess this is the source of the rattle, and possibly why the pump doesn’t seem to be working.

New pump? if so, if I phone round the local parts shops quoting part 1249206218 (the part no taken from shop.ukwhitegoods.co.uk – i would order it from there but I need the washer back working asap…2 kids) what else do I need to mention to get a decent quality part? “OEM”? the manufacturer of the current part (Askoll)?

    all help greatfully received.

Ring your local parts shop and ask for an “Askoll pump motor”. It’s the motor only, it’s almost a universal part and everybody stocks them. You just screw it to the housing.

With the power off, of course.
