Zanussi WJS 1397W not progressing/clicking

Hi all,

My Zanussi WJS 1397W washer/dryer is doing two weird things:

1) It’s not always progressing to the next stage of the washing, it sometimes ‘stays’ on whatever stage it’s set to;

2) When it does complete a stage, it makes a continuous ‘clicking’ noise (seemingly coming from the bottom left hand side of the machine) until manually switched off.

All useful help/advice gratefully received.
