Our washer dryer is not responding to its controls. After setting a washing or drying programme, the electronic display will show the number of minutes remaining and the programme does work but without warning the display disappears and the programme will not recommence until the Start/Pause button is pressed again (sometimes only after several attempts) whereupon the display reappears and the programme starts up again. You have to stand over the machine to make sure it operates (frustrating). Is this an electrical fault that is easily rectifiable or an expensive repair which is not economically worthwhile?

Presumably a power supply problem on the computer board – could be a dry joint, may be a break down. You’ll have to have a look and see.

    Power off, of course.

I would say it is the wiring harness that links the pcb and the interface

Nah – that gives “E90” – the poster states that the machine dies and comes back.

Thanks guys. I have no technical expertise. Is what you suggest likely to be an expensive repair Penguin45?

Well, two different opinions for you to investigate.

The cable refered to is the skinny blue multistrand one joining the computer board to the front user panel.

If you are not sure how to proceed, use the link below to find a UKW engineer in your area. They would charge for an hours work – you should discuss the applicable rate when you make contact. The cable, of required is cheap enough, computer boards are not………

Power off if you are going to stick your fingers in.

What a coincidence my machine has just developed the same problem (Hope its not a time bomb!) Did you solve the problem. Any idea where I can get a repair manual? I’ve always done my own repairs but this is the first fault on this machine.

Hi, this is similair to the fault on my Zanussi condenser dryer ZDC 5350W which I posted sept 4th 8.17pm (and as yet had no replies to.)
I worked my way round all the progs on the dial and some worked once maybe twice but now they are all not playing at all. When any prog stops it goes blank then the timer reappears flashing along with the three lights for drying, cooling and end and the beeper sounding. Is this the same as yours?
Sorry if I appear to be hijacking your post but yours has been the only sign I’ve seen of a similair problem ( or solution!! )

Hi me again, spent half an hour stripping down to the circuit board and found a little dry joint shorting away to itself. Another 10 mins cleaning and soldering and at the moment its working again. Here’s hoping thats it sorted! Big Thankyou to Penguin45 for putting the idea of the dry joint into my head. Might be worth a look yourself VLF07 if you feel up to it. The affected joint on my board was extreme right hand side – 2nd down from top, ( forgot to take note of its number before reassembly!! – sorry !)
I’ll put a rider onto my own original post to this effect just to close it off.
