ParticipantHi,
I have a Zanussi WJS1265W washer/dryer with a dryer that is not working.
The drying cycle comes on and the timer starts counting down as if it is all working, the fan kicks in after a minute or so as well as the green solenoid on the tripple input solenoid, but, the heater does not come on.
All the terminals on the heater stays at 230v and I would have expected 1 or 2 of them to to ground.
I don’t get an error message on the display and the controller board has been replaced as well. The thermostats at the back end of the heater measures continuety and have 230v on either ends when powered and suppositly active / engaged.
I’ve had a service engineer out twice in the last week and he is just prodding around making assumptions as he does not know what the problem is and I don’t have a service manual to diagnose the problem myself either.
My questions are as follow:
1. Does anyone know this fault and can point me in the right direction?
2. Where can I obtain / buy a service manual for this machine? I’ve done a Google search without much success so far.
I’m more than capable enough to fix this myself, but for once decided to call in the experts, and am regretting it as I still don’t have a working machine after 2 visits and haven’t seen the bill yet either. Thanks

more than capable?
but yet ur live testing.. which NO-ONE on this forum would recommend
and then your expectin things to be to ‘ground’
im not sure im really reading this… please please please, unplug and test the proper way, live testing is reckless, silly and dangerous
thanx

I agree with Helo completley.
It is not wise to test with the machine live.If you ever had to test the heater element check the resistance with the power disconnected.
And the service manuals are only for the engineers in the field so you will not find it on the internet.Regrads

Point taken… 🙁
I agree that live testing is not recommended and having repaired a fair share of computer screens and power supplies in the 15 years, I know it is risky and that 230v has a nice kick… 😯
I’ve done most of my testing of the components (continuity and resistance) with the power cable unplugged and only powered it up to run the cycle and monitor what the controller is doing which is the only method I’m used to.
Although, I must say I’m quite curious to find out how one test the controller board without power or a test-jig as it is micro-controller based and requires power to operate. So, I said “ground” when I meant to say “neutral”. The point I was trying to make is that if the one end of the circuit or element is high/live, then the other end needs to be low/neutral/ground in order for the heater element to work.
Now that I know that I can’t get a service manual anywhere either, does anyone know how to resolve this particular fault, or am I forced to wait and see how many parts the service engineers have to replace until they eventually get it right?
I do appreciate that this is probably not a very common fault and I never expected the guys to fix it on the first visit either, but after a 2nd service call the costs are escalating and I don’t want to end up paying more or close to what a new machine would have cost me ether. Thanks

Problem resolved.
With a bit of digging and Googling, I discovered that his machine has been used by a number of manufacturers and re-branded.
So I decided to do a search on this forum for dryer faults regardless of brand and came across this post that solved it for me:

My fault turned out to be the same, loose wire on the condensor sensor. So, thanks for this forum, as it is definitely helping people. 😀
