Has suddenly developed a fault of when the programme is selected the time display counts down to zero in as many seconds. There is no action from the components during this time at all. Tried resetting (holding start & skip buttons in on switch on ) but the problem still exists. Is it worth repairing or take to the washer graveyard?

could be an earth fault on the dryer heaters, these give weird faults sometimes, try disconnecting the connections from the heaters-unplug appliance from mains first.

Disconnected dryer heaters and it has made no difference. If a longish wash time is selected the drum motor runs as if washing but without water. It has come out in conversation that the pumps have been replaced and this has occured since then!!

I have gone through everything with a fine tooth comb and found nothing amiss but after much research I have resolved the problem but I cannot pass the full cost onto the customer. I have learned a lot from this exercise and thank everyone on here who have contributed to a successful conclusion.
