ParticipantHi, as the title, Zanussi WJS1665W comes up with an Error 20 about two minutes into drying cycle. Wash cycle is fine, fluff filter is clear. Error 20 indicates a drainage problem I believe but the pump seems to be pumping.
Any ideas would be appreciated?
Thanks
Geraint

You can get that code when the dryers condenser gets blocked up with fluff. The condenser is not that easy to get to.
Unplug the machine if you investigate further!!!!

Participantid still change the pump, as ive said before, they run a long time with little or no water in while drying, and tend to cut out
clean the condenser, change the pump, and it will be fine

Excellent thanks guys. Whereabouts are the pump and condenser located. I presume the pump is at the bottom somewhere, I’ve had a quick look underneath and the base is open. Is it OK to turn this machine on its side to replace the pump? Is this the right part: linky

Participantyes thats the right pump
anyway.. DONT lie the machine on its side, way too many expensive components to damage
tip the machine back, and if you look to the front of the machine, where the flap for the filter is, youll see 3 screws, securing the pump base from the housing
do it that way
the condenser cleaning requires the cabinet to be split – lid off, 4 securing screws on the top , 4 in the back, and 2 on the sides (behind the white plugs)
the condenser is the big plastic housing between the fan motor and the drum
take it off and flush it out
however if the machine appears to dry ok, it might not be necessary to flush the condenser, id change the pump first and see how it goes
with the plug out of course!

Any limit on how far it can be tipped back without hurting anything else?
As for the condenser cleaning, things do get hot in the drum and the fan is blowing so it may just be the pump?

Participantno, no limit, just not on its side!!!!
yes, could be just the pump

Participantyeah, should be, if your more comfortable doing it that way, id just cover the motor over with some plastice, just to make sure it doesnt get wet when you remove the pump

Changed the pump with no luck, so split the machine as described (a lot easier than it sounds) and took the condenser out and cleaned the majority of the crud out. Now back and working 🙂
Thanks for your help
