Participantanyone come across one of these machines? it is a genuine zanussi machine (i.e. ancient) and is in the same mould as the later dw400 machine they produced. it has had very little use and is in v.good condition. customer complaining sticking during wash. will fill, circulate, heat and drain (when advanced), which sounds to me like stat not closing to advance timer – only problem have looked everywhere, (in door and underneath), and can only find one stat situated right next to heater. i cannot see any defining temp printed on this single stat but as its normally closed i am thinking this is the o/h protection stat. if so does that mean this machine has a timed heating stage and that its the timer at fault? would appreciate any info from anyone who has ever seen one of these

From memory, it was on a clip attached to the dispenser on the inside of the door panel. Bear in mind these were so and so’s for breaking the door wiring, and that aged the timer may well be dodgy.
Luck,

Hi nemo
haven’t seen one of those for many moons…i recall they had a penchant for going up in smoke when the harness failed…might there be an internal break in the harness?

If timer suspect, stick it on rinse/hold. if fails to move at all after 10 mins, timer. If only sticks on heating cycle, read on.
If wiring loom, wire from Pressure Switch to timer or neutral wire timer to heater broken. Wiring loom is available as a whole, I probably have one and not a bad job to do.
If heating/Stat suspect. 65 Degree stat in door. Normally open, closes on temp & initiates the timer. If fails to close before 78 deg, the one by the heater opens and heater is de-energised. No advance.
Discontinued in 1984 this thing, trip down memory lane for me.
