ParticipantHi,
We picked up a second hand ZCE7610W (think that’s the right model number). Everything seems to work, except we think something might be wrong with the main oven.
We tried it the first time, and it seemed to burn the food a bit, like it was hotter than it was set to. I don’t remember hearing the fan come on at all. In fact, we didn’t even realise it was a fan oven at first…
The second time we used it, we’d opened the door for all of 15 seconds or so, and we noticed that the light inside the oven went off, and the oven seemed to have turned itself off – it was only just warm-ish! Fortunately we had the top one on too and that was much hotter, about the right temperature it seemed, so we transferred stuff in to there.
Yesterday we tried again, and though again the fan was still not working, the light seemed to stay on …. but it seemed to be MUCH hotter than it was set to, and our food was rapidly burnt!
Seems to be acting a bit strangly 🙁
Any idea’s as to what could be up with it? The hobs and top oven seem fine…
Cheers,

The main oven is a fan oven with a circular element surrounding it (located on the back wall of the oven cavity). The light you refer to a simple oven bulb located behind a protective glass lens. With the oven switched on the fan should immediately rotate and blow hot air into the oven cavity. The oven light all the while should be lit.
I’m slightly confused from your post as to what of these known events doesn’t occur?

Hi,
Sorry for the confusion. Disregard my last post.
The main fan oven fan *does* work.
The light *inside* the bottom oven went out once, but came back on a few minutes later of it’s own accord, and hasn’t happened again yet.
After using it a few more times, with a brand new oven thermometer, it seems like maybe there is something up with the thermostat(s).
The top oven didn’t seem to register that it was hot at all. I set it to 180C and left it for 10-15 minutes and the red light next to the dial was still on to say it hadn’t reached temperature. The thermometer was reading 200C. I twisted the dial all the way back around to the lowest setting, and the light was still on (thermostat still thought it was stone cold?).
The bottom oven seems to register that it’s reached temperature, and the red light next to the dial for it goes out, but seems to keep on heating up. I had it set to 160C, and it reached 220C. The red light kept going on / off (which I know is normal, but it was 60C higher than it should have been).
The top oven seal is also ripped slightly and could do with replacing.
We would be very grateful for any advice / part numbers to get the cooker back in working order 🙁

A late follow up: Got a new thermostat for the main oven and it has fixed it. Pretty straight forward to fit.
Suspect top oven is the same problem, but we only use that for the grill so it can wait 🙂
New problem though, the front left hob seems to be falling back to “2” when set on “6”. It will heat on full power for about a minute then drop down to “2” and stay there 🙁 Now about to search the forums, unless anyone knows quickly what the problem might be?
Cheers,
