I’ve a Zanussi ZDC37200W, bought 2013. It runs normally, but I noticed that it doesn’t heat properly. There is usually some heat, but, after a while, it seems to stop heating. I looked into it and it seemed a toss up between the heating element and the temperature probe needing replacing. So, I’ve just replaced the temperature probe, but the problem seems to be continuing.

I’m not too confident troubleshooting this problem and want to see if there’s anything I’m missing, before I stomp up for a new heating element. As it partially heats, I thought this might suggest the element isn’t faulty (wouldn’t it just be a case of it working properly or not working at all?) When I contacted Zanussi, I asked them if this dryer had a heating element with an integrated thermostat, so I couldn’t get the thermostat separately. They said it did have an integrated one, but then mentioned there was also a temperature probe – which is why I’ve just replaced that part. So, bit unclear on whether there’s a second ‘thermostat’ which may have failed, but as it’s part of the heating element, the whole thing would need replacing.

Would be grateful if anyone help me to solve this one.

    Thanks

there are 2 elements in one so one may have failed leaving you with half heat

thanks Dave. Had a look at the element in operation, with the cover removed. When first turned on, with cotton setting, the both elements glow red quickly. After 30 secs or so, they both turn off and don’t come back on unless I restart the machine. On synthetics setting, neither element comes on at all. This explains why I get some heat. Could it be the controller? As the dryer is only just over 2 yrs old and not been used that much, I’m surprised there’s this sort of problem.

    thanks
