ParticipantWe have the above dishwasher within a few months of purchasing it the dishwasher started to over fill and leak, this resulted in error codes i20 and the code for flood protection active. We phoned Zanussi who put me in contact with there local agents who came out and diagnosed a faulty pressure switch. After waiting weeks for the agent to get back in touch with us the engineer came and installed the new pressure switch and the dishwasher has worked for about 6 months, the machine is now out of warranty and over filling once again. The engineer had not worked on this model before and we were both surprised at how compact and flimsy the pressure switch looked. Now it looks like I’m going to have to repair the machine myself, I’m not concerned too much about that but wondered what would cause repeated failure of the pressure switch? It’s also a possibility that there is a problem with the air hose but this is not what I would expect from a machine that’s just over a year old

Hard to say without looking at it, but i’d contact Zanussi in the first instance, tell them that the was an issue previously & they “may” be able to do a f.o.c repair on it even though it’s outside warranty, otherwise i’d presume the pressure swith needs replacing & the sump area where its located needs cleaned as gunge tends to build up there causing the problem you describe

It’s been a while now since I posted and we had the dishwasher repaired under warranty. When the engineer arrived with the new switch, he installed it and left the old one behind. I opened up the old air pressure switch to find a layer of gum covering the diaphram and so stopping the switch from operating correctly. There is clearly a design issue here, we have had the air pressure switch replaced twice now and I’m expecting that to last 6 months then fail. The engineer who came had fitted a number of air pressure switches on other Zanussi dishwashers before he arrived to fix ours. He left the bag from the replacement air switch on the worktop and said keep that so you know what the part number is in 6 months when fit fails again 😯 I told him that if it did fail again it would be being repaired under warranty again as the replacement part should come with twelve months warranty. The dishwasher does get used on a daily basis, but we never put very greasy items in it and make sure that items we do put on the dishwasher are scrapped into the bin before putting them in the dishwasher.

Did they fit a modification kit or just replace the pressure sensor?
There is a kit available to solve the issue you mention on some of these models.April 17, 2015 at 4:49 pm #422961PhilipB

Hi Seamy they replaced the pressure sensor like for like with no modification. Do you know if there is a modification kit for this model and if so how long ago was the modification published ?

Hi Seamy, yes the pat number I posted was for the pressure switch, I was not sure if the modification was just a change in design of the pressure switch or some other modification like relocating the pressure switch.

Its a kit that includes new pressure sensor, pipe, clips, grommets, screw, front plate of dishwasher, some tape & soundproofing, all this i’d imagine is to relocate the sensor so as its not in direct contact with water.

could someone explain where the pressure switch is located or better still does anyone have a picture of its location as I am not sure where it is or how to replace it

Would be advising you to get an engineer to do it. 💡
