    Hi

The above model is 5yrs old, and the initial fault was that the heater did not seem to be working (no hot water), and half way through the cycle it would bleep 3 times, give the code AL3, and the machine had not fully drained.

An engineer came out replaced the heater, same fault occured, and he declared it BER (beyond ec repair due to the controller/pcb being dead).

I took of the control panel (PCB), and found that that the joint between 2 pins on the incoming live/neutral (left most side of the unit) were burnt out. Anyway I tried to solder the joint together but saw evidence of other damage, and think I need to replace the whole controller.

Does this fault ring a bell with anyone. Unfortunately I cannot find a replacement part anywhere (does anyone have a price for this brand new/2nd hand). Also if I replace the controller will this fix the machine (or could something else have caused the joint to go), or am I better of writing it off?

PCB is p/no 1525557-50/8 – an email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for prices and ordering.

AL3 is no heat detected in the time allowed. The burnt-out joints syndrome is widely reported through the forum – basically the board is under-engineered. Possibly the most comprehensive discussion was HERE.

Power off if you’re going to wield the soldering iron.
