Zanussi ZDV12002FA Dishwasher Not Heating

Hi,

I have the above dishwasher, ZDV12002FA PNC 911 079 006 01.

About a year ago the machine was leaking and tripping the anti flood alarm, I replaced the sump o ring which fixed it.

Recently I was getting the flood alarm like before, I watched underneath the machine to see the little overflow tubes filling the base up with water, after some googling I installed the pressure sensor modification kit which solved the overfilling.

It runs a cycle all the way through fine but now the water doesn’t heat up, is it likely to be a problem with the temperature sensor? It seems strange that after replacing the pressure sensor the temperature sensor would then fail? Or do I need to reset something now a new sensor has been fitted? I’ve tried to find a service manual for this machine but have had no luck.

Any assistance would be very much appreciated.

first thing to do is check the heater. you have to be certain its ok before you go further

Thanks for your reply, how do I check the heater?

heater is in the end of the wash motor. you have to disconnect the wires feeding it and use a multi meter to test its resistance

if its ok I would expect a reading under 100 ohms

Do I need to remove the whole motor and take out the heater or am I able to test the heater while it is still in situ?

you can test it in situ. you just need access to both terminals

So I ended up taking the motor out as I couldn’t really see which bit was the heater, I’ve attached a link to a photo, what part should I be testing? I’m not sure what terminals I should be putting the multimeter on.

So I tested the two terminals at the top (the two inside the little plastic housing) and I’m getting no reading at all, multimeter set to 200 ohms and it’s just showing ‘1’ which is what it shows when it’s not testing anything.

Does that mean the heater is bust?

Ok, I’ll order the replacement part. How do I know which one I’ll need? I think the old one says 2040w so will that be the 2000w? First one on the list?
Out of curiosity what usually cause them to blow?
