Hi, I have a 10 year old Zanussi zf66/23ff fridge frezzer with the frost free option. Over the last couple of years we have had a problem with ice forming on the floor of the freezer compartment. Over a period of a few months this gets to be 2-3 cm thick. The only fix is to thaw the unit out for 24 hours. This fixes it for a few more months.
I have just de-frosted the freezer compartment completely and while doing so found that the tray under what I assume is the defrost heater element was full of thick ice.
The drain to the outside is not blocked and water flows freely to the top of the compressor tray.
My guess is that the heater element is not being turned on by the timer module, or the element is faulty. I will test the element when I get my multimeter back from a friend.
Until then, I have three questions:
At what time interval is the defrost heater tuned on?
Is it likely to be the timer or element?
and lastly, where can I obtain replacements?
Thanks for your time.
