Zanussi ZFC 61/27 – compressor doesn’t start

This is my beer fridge, and was relegated to the garage last year. Over the winter, it suddenly stopped working. Not a surprise, as the garage is unheated.

So…. what is likely to have failed? The compressor is totally sealed. Light works, and the compressor attempts to start. After 3-4 seconds, the thermal cutout stops it. After 2-3 minutes, it tries again etc. etc.

I’ve removed the ‘control unit’ from the side of the compressor, and there is a disc, which I’m assuming is a capacitor next to the thermal cutout.

What can I try? Really could do with some cool beers 😛

I presume if the compressor has failed, then a visit to the tip is in order…

If its trying to start but cutting out after 3-4 seconds then its most likely the compressor has seized – not cheap.
