ParticipantHi
I have a Zanussi ZJD-12191 that starts the cycle then stops.
If i run the drain cycle, it then lets me start it again – only to stop again.
if i press the start/stop button and the delay start it shows E36.
Anyone any hints how to narrow down the issue and fix?
Thanks
Steve

I disconnected the heating element and the machine now works (obviously not heating)
I will purchase another to try as this seems the cheapest option!
Does anyone have any guidance one 1) replacing it – and 2) replacing the door seal (may as well at the same time)
Any advice ive seen always says to take the front of the machine off – but this model doesn’t seem to be able to do that – the front wraps around the machine!
Thanks

Most likely there was an earth fault on the heater then.
This one the rear half has to come off, it splits in middle, see screws down bottom at both sides behind small white cap cover, 8mm socket required to remove them, take lid off, (Power Off of course) 8mm screws at top of sides & also ones at rear down at the bottom, water intake valves are mounted on a plastic housing that clips out also, then the whole rear casing slides backwards providing all screws are out. 10mm nut holding heater in place needs to be loosened & push in end of bolt slightly to release rubber grommet, heater should now prize out by using a flat blade screwdriver etc, replace in reverse order.Door seal can be done through the front porthole, take seal off from front first, connection ring around outside to be taken off & its held in place on inner side at tub with a large spring around it. When fitting the new seal, best to lubricate it with some fairies liquid where it goes on to tub & lubricate your pinkies also as this will help with getting it on if you are not used to doing them.

Thanks seamy! Seal now changed! Your advice was spot on!
Onto the heater now – i got hold of a new one and tried it – but doesn’t seem to be heating still.
Anyone know where i can do some voltage checks to work out where the issue lies?
Ive measure the contacts on the back of the heater – but seem to have no power!

Theres a cut-out mounted on the heater which should be closed circuit, button on it, try pressing it in 🙂
You could check this for continuity with a meter, would’nt advise live testing for voltage. As previously advised the most common problem on them is an earth fault on the dryer heater, if new heater was fitted check with megger if its low to earth.
Appliance will run for a few minutes before starting to heat, after fan starts you should get power to elements.
Select a drying time over 10 minutes as last 10 is usually cool only. -
