Prior to breakdown, the compressor/ motor started vibrating loudly for about 20 mins. The fridge is no longer cooling.
Assuming that this is a compressor failure is it economic to get this appliance repaired?

    Hi Jack,

Assuming it is and, not being familiar with the machine, a compressor replacement will almost certainly cost North of £120 at least, usually £150 depending on the size of compressor etc.

After that it comes down to a judgment call on how old the appliance is and how much it cost originally verses the cost of a replacement.

    kwatt,

Thanks for the reply. The machine is 7 years old and has a replacement value of £270. I’ve been quoted £65+VAT for someone to look at the machine so looking like £200+ for parts + labour!!

I don’t think it is being considered, Jack was just weighing it up to see if it was an option, no harm in that.
