ParticipantHi
Bit of a problem with a Zanussi ZKT 641F ceramic hob (touch sensitivecontrols). Seems to be just the two left hand side rings and problem started at same time with both rings. When either of these two rings are switched on to a mid setting the rings start to heat but switch off fairly quickly(10-15 secs) even with pans on the rings. The rings can be activated by setting control of that ring to a higher setting but it then switches off again after a few more seconds.Once the ring has switched off then neither of these two rings will respond to their respective controls until hob has cooled right down; even though one may not been used. And if, during this ‘rest’ period (with the hot warning light/s out) either of the controls for these rings are turned on then the rings do not heat up – but they then go on to display the hot warning lights as though the cooker thinks they are hot. Rather strangely, if either of the two rings are/can be switched straight on to full power then they do not switch off. I have tried switching on and off at mains.I suspect (expensive) electronics but any ideas much appreciated.March 6, 2010 at 8:52 pm #314078TheSpinDoctor

Hi.
It does indeed sound like a fault with the control electronic.
Do you have the product number found on a rating plate on the underside of the product? It will begin: 94959—-/–.

Thanks for the reply Spindoctor.
I haven’t removed the hob for a nosey around quite yet but thankfully the previous owners of house kept the manual for the oven and that states Prod.Nr.949 591 672 Type PEE2 019 (of course may be a different one on unit itself…). Any fault finding issues complicated a bit of course by the fact that fault seems to depend on unit being/having been hot.I do have some experience of home electrics and I am very respectful of mains electricity.March 8, 2010 at 5:16 pm #314080TheSpinDoctor

Assuming that product number is correct then the electronic has a part number of 330 64 50-00 / 2.
