Zanussi ZNB3450 fridge freezer mode button

Good afternoon all

I have a Zanussi ZNB3450 fridge freezer.
The temperature alarm was sounding the other day as i had recently bought it second hand and switched it on for the first time.

To try to shut it off, i pressed the ‘mode’ button and held it down for about 5 seconds. The fridge-freezer then shut down and since then has not started back up, regardless of how long it leave it unplugged for (this happened on Sunday).

When i plug it in, if i hold the power button down and the mode button then the control panel display illuminates and displays all the symbols but wont actually do anything.

The fridge internal light comes on when i open the door but nothing mechanical is running at all.

Does anyone has any idea what this could be? The fridge was working fine for about 3 hours before this.

I have tried looking at the manual but it offers no advice and i have also tried holding down the temperature button to see if this does anything.

Someone came out and said the PCB needs replacing at a cost of £160 but can it not be something more simple as it seems it has shut down in to some kind of mode that i can not wake it from!

Any help would be much appreciated.

It may just in defrost mode try leaving it switched on at least 20 mins failing that it may be the defrost timer is sticking in defrost you could try to manually turn it before considering anything else

Pure – chance, I have a the same fridge and had the same problem, as in it wouldn’t turn on.

I have now managed to get the fridge go into a different mode by:
1 – turn off fridge
2 – open the fridge door
3 – hold down the mode button
4 – while holding down the mode button turning on the fridge ( continue holding for about 10 seconds and it then beeps and led lights up)
5 tap the mode button when the display shows 0, wait about 2 seconds and press the temperature button and the fridge then begins to hum. Not sure what to do next though.

Yeah, i got as far as getting the LED lights to light up.
I will try pressing the mode button 5 times and then pressing the temp button.

I’m glad someone else has got a bit further than me because i fail to see how this can be anything more than just a programming glitch or something?

I’ll give it a go and see if i can get this far and any further.

You have given me confidence that this prob can be sorted.

p.s – i called Zanussi and asked to speak to an engineer but got nowhere – not very good custoemr service!

Did you have any joy? How many times did you press the mode button in the later step before pressing the temp button? I can’t get anywhere after getting the led light up.also, does your led show an exclamation mark when all symbols are illuminated?

Hi, Nah I tried various things I pressed the mode button working through all the display buttons, and press the tem p button approx. 10 seconds after I choose a number or symbol. No Joy.

I am probably going to go and order a fridge and give up on this one.

Good luck though, let me know if you manage to get it sorted.
