Zanussi ZNB4051 strange noises

My 10 year old Zanussi ZNB4051 became quite noisy recently.
When compressor is turning off, there is a series of loud bangs – think of switching of an old farmer’s diesel tractor or an electricity generator
Don’t know how else to describe it. 🙂

Also, the temperature in both fridge and freezer sections can change randomly (doors are firmly closed) – the freezer is fluctuating between -16 to -18 and the fridge part between 3 and 8 degrees.

Any ideas on what it can be and is there a way to fix it? Or shall I search for a new machine?

if the noise is actually coming from the compressor bottle itself it could die at any moment and since its a 2006 unit probably not worth repairing

Understood. Pity that. 🙁
Now, what would a good replacement? I am thinking of LG GBF60NSFZB is it any good?
