    Hi,

I have a Zanussi ZRB324NXO. Had it for about 2 years. 2 months ago the fridge stopped cooling – yet the freezer was extremely cold (the settings hadn’t been changed) and there was heavy ice build up in the freezer compartment.

Did some searching on this site and found it was possibly 1 of the following “defrost heater or thermal fuse or defrost timer failure”.

So I defrosted the freezer. And all was well. Until now.

The issue has now returned. I’d like to replace the faulty part if possible. From all the reading on this forum it looks possible it’s the defrost timer?

    1. Anyway of being certain (without calling a pro)?
    2. If it is the defrost timer can someone suggest a replacement part (the shop this site has nothing listed in the Zanussi defrost timer section).

Thanks in advance for any help.

Part number 4055208914 defrost timer is what you require i’d imagine.
Fan in freezer blows cold air up to fridge in normal operation, if fan is defective or defrost has not worked then the air duct from freezer section up to fridge tends to block over with snowy frost.
The appliance runs continuously as the thermostat is in fridge & if cold air does’nt get circulated to fridge to activate thermostat so the compressor runs all the time and overfrosts freezer section.

When new type defrost timer is fitted, the freezer needs to be totally defrosted before it will run right.

Thanks for the info, makes sense.

There’s no defrost timer listed for my product number on the Zanussi website, would Part: 4055208914 work?

There are 2 similar items specifically for my model:

    1. Freezer Defrost Thermostat
Prevent your freezer from building up with ice and your electrical components having to work too hard with this replacement defrost thermostat.
    Part number : 4055088803

    2. Refrigerator Thermostat
Does food keep freezing inside your fridge even though you have it set on the warmest temperature setting? Usually, this is an indication that the thermostat has failed. By simply replacing the refrigerator thermostat, you could have your machine functioning properly again.
    Part number: 4055179354

My food isn’t freezing in the fridge. So option 1 looks likely?

Ah, ok. Just wanted to make sure as it £50 and no info or picture or compatibility check for that part on the Zanussi site.

Watched a few guides on replacing defrost timers. Looks easy enough.

    Now it gets embarrassing…

Opened the panel in the fridge and I couldn’t see the timer anywhere.

    The panel:

Wiring diagram on the back of the fridge:

There’s only 1 silver box (code – nwpf5k-089)? Doesn’t look like the timers I’ve seen online. And there are no other timers/boxes.

Could it be in the freezer? So much ice in there. Will need to defrost before I can get the panel out. Need to actually find the thing before placing the order.

    I have a Zanussi fridge
    Modle: ZRB23200WA
    Type: RD-30WCASG1
    PNC 925 993 084
    Ser No 31100479
    Batch No B-L285 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/439 … S40553.jpg
    Barcode from inside of fridge VB0230Z00116JL285S40553 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/439 … S40553.jpg

    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/439 … etails.jpg

I have exactly the same problem. However it was not due to excessive frost, as the fridge was off for a while. Once the fridge powered on the bottom was freezing as normal, however the top remained warm.

I removed the following component ” NWPF5K-089 ExnC II AT1 1302. NN0074B. Ba RoHS” pictured at

I directly connected the two leads. I manually depressed the switch which turns off the light, and I could feel cold air being brought up from the bottom of the fridge.

I would be fairly confident that the thermostat – defrost timer has failed.
It is possible that the fan is not running at the correct speed, if this is the case is it possible to replace?

That’s a thermostat that pic shows, most likely had nothing to do with fault described, the fan (4055179321) and defrost timer (4055208914) should be replaced i’d reckon to cure the problem.

Hi Thank you for those part numbers.

Whatever about the other components, the thermostat was never going to work, as the pipe carrying the gas which expands and contracts was cracked and there was no gas in the thermostat.

You may be correct that the other components need replacing, however I would like to try the component which is 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} broken first.

by the way where can I get a list of part numbers for this fridge?

I’ve never seen one of these with a thermostat phial broken like that before, perhaps it was broken while removing it, you can get part numbers for this or any other Electrolux product from this link… thermostat part number is 4055179354
