When I start my machine on e.g. normal wash I can hear the pump drawing out water but then the machine just stops and after about 5 mins will start flashing on the rinse hold light.

my machine has 5 programmes which are:
    – Bio
    – Quick Wash
    – Normal Wash
    – Intensive
    – Rinse Hold

I have checked the cold water inlet valve and this seems to be ok as there is no scale and the water is filling the pipe fine

The filter is clean and there is sufficient salt.

I’d really appreciate if anyone can offer advice on why this is happening.

    Thanks

No fill in the time allowed. Inlet valve failure possible. Overflow system activated (valve will “hum” but not allow fill). Most likely fault is the IWMS system becoming clogged. Have a read of this:

If you decide that this is the problem, you need p/no 1524624-03/6 – spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get you one.

If you’re not sure, click the link below for a UKW engineer in your area. If you’re investigating, keep the power off for anything other than observation.

    Hi Penguin45

    Sorry for the late reply.

After checking the IWMS I can confirm that the unit was pretty much spotless so don’t believe the fault is due to this unit being blocked.

However, after I carefully turned on the machine and selected a programme I could hear the hummimg as normal but still no water was entering the unit. I gave the inlet valve a firm tap and immediately the valve allowed water in. I guess the fault was just due to a sticky valve so this might be a common occurence with this machine.

Note – to access the IMWS you need to remove the left hand side panel of the machine and not enter under the machine as described in your text.

    Thanks
