Zanussi ZVF 45R – Only freezes on fastfreeze

Hi all,

Hope you can help. I’ve had this freezer for just over six years now and it’s developed this fault since I defrosted it last. The fastfreeze setting works fine, but if you switch it to the normal setting it starts to defrost.

If you need any more info let me know, any ideas gratefully received.

What does it do with fastfreeze off Fiona ?

Any noises etc from the unit ?

It sounds as if it’s the thermostat to me, hopefully anyway 😀

By the way, please don’t leave the fastfreeze option on all the time as all this does essentially is bypass the thermostat and makes the motor run continuously which will shorten it’s life considerably.

Thanks for the reply. There’s no noise from the unit, at least nothing out of the ordinary, but if you turn off the fast freeze then the whole thing starts to defrost.

Is fitting a new thermostat a fairly easy thing to do (I have a fairly useless boyfriend) or would I need to get someone in? Basically, I suppose, is it cheap?! 🙂
