ParticipantI did post a few weeks ago about my washing machine going wrong, but at that time didn’t fully understand or explain what the issue really is.
My Zanussi washer drier zwd 12270 is about 4yrs old now. I can’t recall ever using the 95degree wash until a a few weeks ago. What happened when I used this hot wash was the machine stopped mid cycle, refusing to drain, spin or rinse. No error code was showing & the on/off/pause button was flashing green.A neighbour kindly came in and emptied machine of water and checked there was no blockage, which there didn’t seem to be.
Well, we tried to get machine to work on all cycles after this, but nothing happened, it clicked as if it was going to begin a cycle, then button just flashed green again with no error code. Getting on for a week later I decided to try to see if I could get any response from machine and found it now worked on a 40degree wash. Next time I used the machine I tried to do another 95degree wash and hit the same problem I had on this wash first time round. Neighbour came back to empty & do check for blockage and again nothing, and machine refused to work on any cycle.
Once more, a few days later, I thought I’d just give machine a try on that 40degree wash again & it completed cycle! It all seems very strange to me. I’m not willing to try to see if it now wants to work on any cycle other than 40degrees in case it throws a wobbly again.
I wonder if anybody could possibly identify what the problem with the machine could be? Or tell me if they have had anything similar happen to them with a Zanussi machine? I suppose because I’d never used the 95degree wash previously, it could be a manufacturing fault that has been present all along. I’m reluctant to call an engineer out if it’s likely to be a costly fault to remedy, as I’m expecting to move soon and will probably go for an integrated appliance as part of a kitchen refit.

Very possibly the thermal cut-out embedded into the drain pump windings is cutting out. The higher water temperature passing through the pump may trigger this effect. However if my theory holds true then the pump will shortly fail even at the lower temperatures at some point soon.
Next time the same fault occurs then count the number of green flashes the Start/Pause light gives as that is an error fault code. (A series of rapid flashes followed by a short pause, then repeats over and over) 😉

Select the drain programme and start the machine now press and hold both the start/pause button and the button to the left of it together until all the lights go out then the start/pause will flash red and green count the number of red flashes then the number of green flashes for example if it flashed red twice and green twice then this would be error E22 a drain fault . See what yours is flashing and let me know
