zanussi zwd1471w machine wont start

This machine allows you to set the program, but when the start button is pressed it doesn’t start and the start light flashes.

I haven’t been to this one yet, but it is quite a distance away, so don’t want to drive all the way there if it is going to be BER.

Any ideas?

disconnect the dryer element , if it starts u have got it……any insulation below 40 megs will cause a diagnostic code of ED4 or E36

Is Ed4 just the error code for faulty heaters or does it cover other things as well?

heater element failures wont normally stop these locking the door chris, they will start the test run for a few seconds at least before stopping.

every drier element low insulation failure ive been too will wash for a few mins, then abort,

on this generation, open circuit wash heaters will cause constant filling on test run,

im with martin and id be looking at carbons, solenoid, or interlock tbh, and probably pcb for a triac blowout too.

id suggest door assembly, pretty sure these didnt have the flappy pull out semi-circle door handles tricitys had which would occasionally come out of alignment, iirc instead they had the shielded handle levers which rarely play about.

diagnostics and connect mediaTOR are your friends for this one 😀

gandh1, don’t assume door not locking, we only have the customer’s account 😉 .
