Zanussi ZWD1472S – Pauses on start and E40 error

Hi All,

I have a Zanussi ZWD1472S Washer/Dryer. The problem I am having is previously it was pausing on any wash selected (I tried different washses but to no avail). I could turn if off and back on a few times to get around this issue.
I have not used the unit in a few weeks and no matter what I do today I keep getting E40 displayed on the front panel.

Somebody mentioned replacing the door lock interface so I picked up that part today. I was wondering if replacing this part might help? Also how would I go about replacing this?

E40 would point towards to door interlock fault, replacing the part should help, you would replace it by switching off the power to the appliance, taking off the door gasket from front of appliance to allow access to door lock, remove screws securing interlock, remove cable from it fit cable to new one & fit in reverse order.
If this is something you can’t manage you should find an engineer you would be happy to do it for you.

Thanks for the reply.

I got an engineer out to replace the door lock interface.

Now I cannot get around the issue whereby no matter what wash I put on the machine pauses/stop after a couple of seconds. I have tried numerous times to turn off and on and try again but to no avail.

Is it the system board now thats gone?

Your engineer needs to call back and check the connections to the door interlock and the main Power Board (PCB) as the fault lies in that area for sure.
