ParticipantHi
I have a fault on zwd16270, program is selected start button pressed, drain pump comes on for 5 secs then the door unlocks (sometimes relocks then unlocks aqgain) doesnt let in any water. But this happens approx 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of the time, other 50{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} it starts up no problem and goes through a wash. I read on another thread about issues with the dryer element causing faults could this be causing it or unlikley and to be something else? (the job is right out the way so i want to go back armed with as much info as poss)
TIA
Jeremy

Shorting drier element for sure. If the drier is little used the elements seem to fail quicker (maybe they get damp and can’t dry out in the chamber). Unplug the element first to clarify – but take an element with you; it doesn’t matter if you don’t need it, you are sure to use it in another machine very soon. It appears that this is becoming a very common problem with late Lux washer driers. 🙁
High quality stuff…… :rolls:

I’ve fitted a few dryer elements to zanussi wd’s lately & it does seem to be the ones that hardly get used that fail most….

Do you actually need to renew the element or would just drying it out be enough to rectify the fault? I went to one this week that was shutting down at random times and resetting to the original start time reading. customer says if you leave the machine an hour or so it will then respond to the start button again then run for between 6 and 50 minutes before resetting again. I’ve asked the customer to try using the dryer then trying it again on a wash.

If drier (usually) or wash element is below 40 Megohms insulation resistance, machine will shut down with start/pause flashing.
See pp. 84-86 of general service manual (599352317.pdf) available on mediator. Drying it out might clear it for a while, and maybe you could get it to stay up ( 😯 ) by using dryer regularly?
