Zanussi zwd16270w1 washing machine display not working?

Hi

I have a Zanussi zwd16270w1 washer dryer. I acquired the machine when I bought my house, so I don’t know exactly how old it is/how much it’s been used.

We’ve used the machine for the last year without any problems (only in washer mode – never in dryer mode), but yesterday when we went to put a wash on the display didn’t light up (it normally shows time remaining on the cycle).

The door is closed and there’s definitely power to the machine. I tried switching it to a few different settings and I noticed the display lights up slightly on the dryer options – but the numbers don’t show – and the machine doesn’t start the wash.

Can anyone suggest possible fixes?

Dryer heating element is low to earth & needs replacing.
Power off if doing any testing or investigation !
