ParticipantI have been trying to remove a 2 pence piece from the outlet near the filter, but as I was unable to reach the coin I decided to remove the black hose that feeds into the outlet housing but when I tried to turn the machine back on ,there is no power now,I have checked the fuse in the mains plug and that is ok.
I must admit I was removing the hose without turning the mains off.September 27, 2009 at 11:35 am #298053gandh1

Power off and unplug!!!
Check the 2 terminals on the pump in case youve knocked one of the wires. Fairly easy to do accidentally.
Also did you turn the machine upside down or lay it on the r/h/s (if facing front of machine) ?

Hi Vikingfan.
No lights on display & you have checked the fuse in the plug? Are you certain the socket is ok? Try plugging the machine into another socket or plug a lamp or something into the socket you are plugging the appliance into to check that socket. I know it seems obvious but it is surprising what we find in this game. If that’s gives no joy, like Gandh1 says, check what you have done & make sure you have not accidentally pulled off any wires. Please isolate appliance from mains electric supply before carrying out any work.
Also, tilting it onto the right hand side might not have done any favours for either the mechanical pressure switch or analogic pressure sensor.
Good luck.

Thanks I tipped it back on it’s side to check I had not accidentally dislodged a wire but nothing, put the machine back upright it powered up.
Then I tried to start a program but the power went off again. It seems intermittent as it has happened twice were I have momentarily had power for a second.
I can now hear a bit of a buzzing/crackling noise near the program switch.
Any ideas or is it a job for an engineer? Now its come back on power but there is a rumbling sound and the program is not running.

It sounds like where it was tipped over some water has got somewhere it should not have. My suspicion is either the main or user boards or selector. The rumbling is most likely either the drain or recirc. pump.
At this point, I would suggest that you stop where you are & perhaps leave it for a day or two & see if the water dries out which may rectify the problem but if it does not, seek assistance from a trained technician in your area.

!
snap… i had a gut feeling cos access to the pump is so awkward on these… lying it on the RHS appears to be the obvious route for DIY repairers, so dont feel down about it viking. but it would be a shame if it has written the machine off… for future reference, if the machine is still serviceable, for DIY repairs on these zanussis you would be better advised taking half the outer shell casing off instead. its not as hard as it appears either!
Also its worth considering if the pump has burned out it could affect the program operation too. new pumps arent cheap – zanussi ones are about £40-55 so you would want to make sure its fine before ordering one!

What are you talking about?
Pull the plug, tip the machine back to a good, stable angle and do it from underneath. You can either release the locking lug and remove the pump as an assembly, or you deal with the three screws holding the pump motor in place in situ.
A suitable replacement pump motor unit is available through the shop@ facility on the site for between £10 and £15 depending on model.
If you have to keep on posting in these forums, please get your facts and advice correct.

Because I have done it before. I felt it would be safer not to recommend to someone who didnt know to not tip the machine on its rhs to tip it on its back whilst underneath it. I was erring on safety of the user.
