Zanussi ZWD1681W drain pump

Hi all

My venerable Zanussi is complaining and it says E20 – drainage problem. I’ve done the following:

Made sure the external drain is clear
Took the filter out and cleaned it.
Rotated the impeller blades (it rotates and I can feel the resistance fron the magnets)
Took the exit hose off the pump and made sure it was clear right through.

It’s still not a happy machine, though. And I have noticed that the pump motor is getting very hot.

I am guessing that the pump has gone to the great launderette in the sky, unless anyone suggests otherwise. So..the next question, is how do you get it off? Is it the white plastic clips that fit into the bottom shroud type moulding (which, incidentally, also makes it very awkward to access the pump)

Have you checked that the hoses are’nt clogged, hose from tub to pump & drain hose from pump.
Pump should be bayonet type fit, theres a lock clip holding it which when moved slightly will allow the pump to be unscrewed from filter housing.
Sometimes theres a rubber band or threads etc wrapped around impellor causing problem described.
