OK thanks. Are there any washing machines around the £300 price range that can have the bearings replaced by a a DIYer?

Not so much now.
Many cheap washing machines are designed to be throwaway items now and anything under about £300 considered to be “budget”, i.e., cheap.
Mid range, up to about £600 are a bit better but you need to watch what you buy.
Top end stuff usually isn’t a problem but then, they break a lot less as well.
Don’s your man for that question though of what’s good or bad in the budget stuff now but, without opening the washing machine up and having a look you probably won’t know unless you have a specific model number we can look up.

The suspension springs differ.
Tub depth differs
Front bellows differs
Tub outlet differsBut with a bit of bodging anything is possible I suppose. Depends on how determined and resourceful you are I guess. If someone can fit a jet engine into a VW Beetle then a simple matter of fitting a slightly different tub from one old scrap washing machine into another scrap washing machine should be a breeze. :clown:

From 2005 – 2007. Fine vintage years. Made from their factory in Porcia (just north on Venice) in fact.
