    Hi
Hoping someone out there can advise. We’ve got a ZWF1221 washing machine that stopped half way through the rinse cycle, leaving us with a drum full of water. We bailed it out and had a think.
It appears fine until we press the start button. The door locks. Then no further response except a very faint hum.
We’ve tried it on every programme.
We’ve drained it through the hose. We checked the drain, but found no obstructions.
Our best guess is the pump has given up? Are we right or have we missed something really obvious?
    Thanks for any help.

I think you’re getting pretty warm on that diagnosis based on what you tell us….HOT even! 😉

Hi Martin, thanks for the reassurance. I really appreciate you getting back to us so quickly.
I’ve not fixed a washing machine before, though I’m not a stranger to a toolbox. I see that I can get a replacement pump for under £30. Is it something that I should be able to fit myself? Any suggestions on where to look for fitting instructions?

I think this will have a bayonet fit (twist fit)Askoll pump which you should be
able to get for about a tenner.

I would check that you dont have a blockage in the pump first though…
    Might be just jammed.

Thanks both for your help. I’ve fitted a new pump and (after not twisting it on properly and flooding the floor) the machine is now working lovely. I’m actually feeling a bit smug and my wife says she’s impressed!
