Zanussi ZWF14070W Will not start wash

Hi,

Hopefully someone can help, this is the issue:

Put in washing, move dial to 40C, start/pause flashes normally, press this, wash light comes on but then door light also comes on – normally just the wash light comes on until the wash has finishes. Washer then never starts, just sits there, cannot open door.

Have to reset by turning off at mains, then after a period of time can open the door.

Any ideas or time for a new washer, its just over 6yrs old ?

Power off and then take a close look at the door interlock plug-in connector.

Thanks for replying, is the interlock something I can easily access or would you recommend I simply call an engineer, or at this age look for a new machine (it does make quite a bit of noise now while spinning) ?

OK 🙁

Checking the manual its actually normal for the wash and door lights to come on at the start of the program so not sure what the issue is, the machine just does not start washing.

Have you checked that interlock yet? I guess not so report back when you have.

The interlock is accessed via unclipping the front door seal retaining ring. I have no idea as to your capabilities but we must assume those that ask the questions must have a fair degree of electro/mechanical knowledge. We cannot and will not give step by step instructions but instead give guidelines as to the best course of action to take.

Call out a local guy if DIY is not for you of course. We may well have one listed in your area via our engineer search facility on the home page. 😀
