ParticipantHi …..a problem! ( prod code 914226103/00 )
This washing machine is a fairly simple contraption but is doing my bonce in: which ever programme you set the machine on the door locks as normal and the pump comes on and stays running forever. There`s no fill no motor action no nothing other than the pump runs. Now I have bought a new linear pressure switch part number 3792216040 ( was 3792216032 ) fitted this and has made no difference, tried putting in a gallon of h20 via big saucepan to trigger the damn thing = made no difference. However what complicates things more is: it did the same fault 2 years ago and the a new p/swt cured the problem and now, although the p/swts look different, old one is black new one is blue because of a part number change, if I now blow in and out of the OLD p/swt and then refit it the machine will SOMETIMES work until the next pump out then goof out again so I do know that 1) the motor works and brushes are groovy, 2) the machine fills both valve solenoids, 3) the heater works 4) the pump-only too well works and 5) I`ve blown down the p/swt pipe and the air trap is fine and the stupid ping pong ball is not stuck in the sump hose either. Obviously something t`aint right so has anyone got any suggestions please? What am I doing wrong/missing?July 23, 2016 at 8:46 am #439585electrofix

1 with this type of pressure switch you can destroy it by blowing into it
2 it could be the main board that has the fault. the board uses Triacs to control the components and they sometimes fail as can other chips on the board

Hi Dave.
1) I know that that`s why I blew in to the suspected old p/swt. Actually my own personnal way of thinking is: what was once a part i.e. the mechanical pressure switch, that very rarely gave much grief has been transformed in to a troublesome piece of electronic tosh as only 21st Century can produce.
2) Yep programmer only thing really left, heater not to earth as that was also a thought back feeding in to the electronics but is isn`t.Oh well looks like another one for the recycler as she won`t wait or can`t wait for a QER repair. Another plastic tank cut in to pellets, the processing residue destined for unofficial ocean fish food, plastic sardines anyone?

Went back there today as I refuse to give up. Don`t know what happened but I put the original p/swt and the damn machine now works and has done 4 complete washes with no trouble at all. Strange weird and annoying come to mind but fingers and legs crossed it might now be ok. Can`t surely be pcboard then must be the p/swt fooling about even the new one……Ahhhhhh my brain hurts. We`ll see how she goes!

One problem with these is the pressure vessel getting bunged up, best to blow down the hose to dislodge any sludge in pressure vessel connected to tub.
Have found that the cable connections to plug of pressure sensor sometimes make poor connection, you can use a multimeter to check the loom from one end of cable to the other. If you get a high reading on one wire thats normally the problem, slight pinch of the plug connection with pliers (gently though) may cure the fault. -
