The Askoll M239 Drain Pump in my daughter’s Zanussi ZWG7160P has stopped working (error code 20). The outlet hose is (now!) clear (water will drain if hose is unclipped and laid on the floor) I bench tested the pump (R = 168 Ohms) and with 230v mains applied (WARNING a job not for the average DIY’er!) it ran. 230 V is also being applied from the control board.
I replaced the pump and it ran once then stopped, I gave it a sharp tap with a screwdriver and it started running but has since failed again. I’m reluctant to replace with the ‘official’ expensive spare in case I’ve missed something. Any suggestion gratefully received.

check old and new pumps to see if the impellor is higher. had an LG machine recently where the non gen pump was catching the housing and jamming
