ParticipantHi,
I have a Zanussi washing machine that has started making a knocking sound during the spin cycle. It doesn’t make a noise the whole time just now and again during the spin.
I’ve taken the back cover off and can see the belt is ok but can’t see the location of the bearings. I’ve also taken the top cover off and can see the springs and weights are ok as far as I can see.
Any suggestions further than that would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Buffalito

Hi
Check the filter if it has one, some of the bottom end Zanussi’s don’t have one behind the front cover. Have come across coins etc trapped against the pump impeller which can get noisy when the machine spins.Bearings may be grumbling, Easiest way is to remove the belt then spin the drum by hand, Also check for any excessive drum movement front to back.
Without the full PNC or prod number starting 914……/.. it is hard to say which machine you have but picking one out you cannot replace the bearings as you have the dreaded sealed tub which is about £150 .

The prod number 914906418.
I’ve taken the fanbelt off given it a good spin and there’s no noise. Could it be a foreign object inside?
Thanks for the advice.

Could be a foreign object in the pump, is there a filter bottom front right corner you can check?

I can’t see one. It looks like the drum bolt has sheared off at the back. Do I need a new drum as I can’t see a way of removing the part of the screw that’s stuck?

Can you post up a picture of the offending area please?

I wouldn’t have thought that was the issue. I still think the problem lies elsewhere. As for a new drum? It’s just not worth it at £150 odd pound on a machine that retailed at £249 IIRC.
It’s time either to call in an engineer or look for a new machine.

That photo shows that the transit bolts weren’t removed properly leaving the (red) plastic spacers still in place.
:rtm: Did you read the install instructions? :rtm:
