    Hello,

I have a Zanussi ZWH 6140 P washing machine that fills and empties fine but has a spin problem. When it starts to spin it looks like its starting to spin at full speed rather than a gradual increase. This spin lasts for only a second and then it stops completely. Eventually the “start” light flashes red and nothing else.

Can anyone help me diagnose the fault please. Its only 5 years old and seems such a waste to have to replace it.

    Thanks very much.

The question is: by spin do you mean just spin or do you also mean tumble speed it also does the same i.e. whenever and where ever the motor turns it busts into a spin mode for a split second? There are a fair few product code model versions to your model beginning with 91. Very often with models fitted with a sole made motor the rear of the motor`s generator coils`s magnet comes loose and pushes out the coil ( tacho coil ). But it is possible a triac or some other component on the pcboard has gone wrong OR the wiring from the motor up to the pcb though that is uncommon on Zanussi stuff.

Thanks very much for your reply.
I have measured the resistance across the tacho coil and it measures as open circuit. I’m assuming the tacho is just a coil which should measure a few hundred ohms or less ? what would cause this to go open circuit ? and more importantly, can it be replaced ?

Thanks very much for your help.

Ignore my last question. 🙂 Iv’e found the part in this sites’ shop which will fit my Nidec motor. The description also mentions a coil resistance of 184 ohm so clearly mine is faulty. I’m still curious as to how a coil could fail though.

    Thank you.

    SORTED 😀
Although it took 2 weeks to get here, the replacement tacho coil works a treat. Thanks very much for your help.
