Zanussi zwx 1506 all lights flashing

Hi everyone. I own a Zanussi zwx 1506 washing machine. It was purchased by my mother in August 2005, and given to me in January 2013 when the brushes failed for the second time and she decided to buy a new machine.

Apart from 2 new sets of motor brushes in 11 years (both times the fault was evident by no spinning on the spin cycle), this machine has never given a days problem, despite being hammered to within an inch of it’s life, and has required no other new parts.

Twice in the last week I have returned to find all the lights flashing (every single one, and there are about 30 LED’s on this machine) and it bleeping like crazy. The washing is clean and well spun so I assume the cycle has completed, though as I do not use softener (which would be left behind had it stopped mid-cycle) I can’t be sure.

I found out online how to do a diagnosis and I get the start light flashing once, and end light 9 times. Does this make it fault E91 which I read to be a PCB fault?

I do have trouble when setting this machine – occasional the panel will blank out when setting the program and I have to try again, usually one more go does it but sometimes it takes two or three. Also, from time to time all the active lights on the panel have been known to go out mid-cycle, with bleeping to match, but the machine has continued to go through the wash cycle without a hitch. However, my mother told me years ago it had done all of this since day one, but she learned how to put up with it as it was such a good washing machine (and believe me when I say it is).

Any advice on what to do, if indeed there is a problem? I am loathed to get rid of this machine until such time that it wears out.

E91 is a communication error between the 2 boards. being the control panel and the main power board
it can be as simple as a bad connection. find the connection wire between the 2 boards and unplug it and put it back 3 times to clean the contacts
then see how it goes

Thank-you Dave. I appreciate this and will do that when I can. In the meantime, is there a reason why I cannot carry on using the machine, do you think?

as long as it will start i cant think of anything
