    Hi,
The circular black object on the corner of the pcb on the above model randomly produces continuous ticking at which point the lights alsogo off and fridge compartment gets warm.

Now I am not sure whether it is a faulty defrost timer/heater or pcb.

Any idea what the black object is on the corner of this pcb?

Would a faulty pcb explain flashing interior light and it not defrosting properly?

    Many thanks,
    Rich.

Picture of p.c.b would help, theres a circular black buzzer mounted on the board which may have gone faulty. Theres no conventional motorized timer in this one as far as I can remember which can click in conventional fridges, but this ones electronically timed defrosting.

Can’t seem to post the link from my iPad. But yes it does look like a buzzer.

Would a faulty pcb cause the symptoms described do you think?

    General symptoms are:

    1. Open door
    2. Light flashes off and on and then maybe off again
    3. Ticking noise from pcb
    4. Fridge ices up so top compartment eventually goes warm
    4. After a while, sometimes 30 mins fridge will come back on but won’t generally defrost
    5. Repeat

Sometimes it will start from point 3 and turn off. I’ve totally defrosted and it seems to be ok for an hour but then symptoms return.

Over a period of a couple of weeks evaporator freezes up. I’ve had a look and can’t see anything obviously wrong with it. Ie no burnt out bits or anything.

My thoughts are faulty pcb which is causing the defrost heater to not work and compound the problem.

My options are either replace the pcb (£75) or new fridge (£350). Obviously don’t want to replace the pcb if it’s likely totally knackered.

    Thoughts anyone?
    Many thanks.

You have another option, get an Engineer to look at it.
