    Zanussi ZX99 5Si
    Product no. 928405933
    serial. 23800465

    Hello.

Please could someone give me a little advice on this?

Seems a common problem that the freezing elements are icing up, not allowing the cold air from freezer to duct up into the fridge.

I am assuming that the heater element is not doing it’s job in defrosting appliance every 8 hours or so, or else it is the timer unit not telling the heater to switch on.

Duct fan is working ok, even when iced up.

Please could someone tell me where the auto defrost timer is situated, and how I could test it?

In the meantime, I will allow unit to fully defrost for 24 hours, instead of what I have been doing for the last week, which was to manually defros the elemnts with hairdryer. (problem then comes back every few day)

    Many thanks in advance,

    Michael

This model doesn’t have a timer, it’s electronically controlled.

Suspect defrost heater or the overheat protection thermostat I would imagine.

Power off before checking please :zap:

Re: Zanussi ZX99 faulty frost free cycle. update

    Dave, thanks again for help.

I have checked the heater, first with ohm meter, then with direct connection to 240v. Works fine.

Have measured the overheat protection thermostat (which I assume is the one just above heater) (there is another in the cooling matrix), and it is showing open circuit at room temp, in boiling water and in ice. – at what temperature does it switch please?

    Thanks,

    Michael Whitestone
