Hi all just changed the thermostat on our oven and now seems to work ok except now the orange on light is permenatly on and i can’t remember if this was the case before we started having problems with the oven. Should this light go out after oven has finished and has cooled down enough?
Most ovens have a small “pilot” light which should go on when heating and go off once the set temperature is reached and thereafter cycle on and off as the oven cools and needs “topping up” again. Therefore, once the oven is off it should definatly not be on. Sounds like you may have a wire in the wrong place and you may also need to check that the element is not still getting hot when switched off.
Thanks i did have a wire in the wrong place, changed it around and the light would go on and off as normal but the temperature of the oven still would not turn off even though the temperature light went out. The oven temp still kept rising and burnt my roast. I give up now and going to buy a new oven as i think i have just shorted the electrics on the oven. :rolls:
