Hi everyone.
Can anyone tell me if the cooling fan TOC on the top of oven is normally open or closed.

not sure what you mean

any thermostat that is made to operate a cooling fan is open circuit and closes to operate the fan
a TOC (thermal overload cut out) is meant to switch the oven off if it gets too hot therefore it is closed circuit till it get hot and opens

try telling us the problem

Hi Dave thanks for reply
.I haven’t seen this oven .I am only going on what customer is telling me.he says the cooling fan has stopped working.he says there is a live feed from selector switch through a stat to the cooling fan and then to timer.when he bridges the stat it starts the cooling fan.so that’s why I thought it might have been a TOC that’s gone .I will have to look at it and see what exactly it is and isn’t doing.

closest model I can find is

am assuming your customer read it wrong

from what I can see the fan is linked to the clock. so I assume you must have to set the clock each time. when the unit get hot the fan stat closes so the fan will run on after switch off

have pm’ed you a few bits

Thanks for all info.
Customer says he is sure that the cooling fan always runs from start of cooking when using the top oven without using the timer but now it only comes on after a while but I don’t see how this is possible as it is using a cooling fan control stat which would only switch when the temp is reached.am I missing something?

are you sure the customer is not faulty?

can see why the top oven uses it from go but why would the bottom oven and it would not be needed till it got too hot. that’s what the stat is for

is there a fault with this or is it just the customer thinks it should be running

some cooling fans will switch through the grill/top oven switch which is in parallel with the stats so that the fan runs all the time the grill is used to prevent the controls getting hot.
